Cholla cactus branches are modified branches that serve many functions, including water storage, photosynthesis, and flower production. Cholla cacti, also known as "jumping chollas" or "horse cripplers", are shrubby cacti with cylindrical stems that form cylinders that rise from a common base. The stems are also called "joints" and have nodules that contain stiff spines. They work great as sphere stands.
