Kambaba Jasper Palm Stone

Kambaba Jasper's unique mix of green and black swirls is intoxicating! It is often falsely identified as a fossil because it closely resembles fossilized green clumps called stromatolites, but it is actually volcanic rhyolite rock. It contains contains Quartz, pyroxene (aegirine), k feldspar and Albite. The characteristic, blackish, rounded aggregates consist of needles of amphiboles (riebeckite to paragasite in composition). Kambaba Jasper can be found in areas of South Africa, Madagascar and the sea that separates them. Its name is likely derived from Cheitharol Kambaba, the court chronicle of the kings of Manipur, India.
