Kambaba Jasper Palmstones

Kambaba Jasper dates back almost 3 billion years! Its unique mix of green and black swirls can be mistaken for Malachite or Nebula Stone. In spite of the name, Kambaba Jasper is not actually a jasper but a fossil! Its mineral composition consists of fossilized algae clumps called Stromatolite. This fossilized algae clump contains Cyanobacteria, believed to be the first organisms to create oxygen on Earth! Kambaba Jasper also contains Quartz, Feldspar, Cristobalite and Albite. It can be found in areas of South Africa, Madagascar and the sea that separates them. Its name is likely derived from Cheitharol Kambaba, the court chronicle of the kings of Manipur, India.
